The building, set on the top of a hill, uses the slope and the extraordinary view as matrix for its volumetric outline. The connotative elements of the place therefore become elements for an typological and morphological intention capable of obtaining a synthesis between function and context, within a linguistic code carrying a strong expressive contemporariness. A solid, inclined matrix, hollowing itself out, allows a distribution of the interior functional sections as transversal and parallel wings, all of which directly connected to the exterior perceptive values, but also supported by intrinsical values related to distributive rationality and organisational efficiency, characteristic and necessary in a complex modern hospital “machinery”.
